A Strange world in a dream.
16 inches by 20 inches.
This was created to represent and place I traveled to in a dream. It was very much like a parallel universe. Beautiful and vibrant and yet very different.
Created on canvas board using oil paint, glass paint, glitter, wood, air drying clay, fabric, plastic, glass stone, metal, feathers and metallic foil.

When the light goes out - despair!
24 by 17 inches (A2)
A grand house on the Isle of White, over looking the cliffs edge and the sea. In the 1850s. In the flash of lightening she can see and ship caught in a storm, heading towards the rocks. In the warmth of her homes, she can do nothing to help, just despair for those on board the ship.
I did a past-life regression by hypnosis. An imaged I had, inspired this artwork
Created using Oil paint, air drying clay, transparent plastic, fabric, feather, glass paint, wood, feather, plastic, mental foil, hologram card, glitter, cotton and aluminum.

Autumn of Fear, London 1888
24 by 17 inches (A2)
In the Autumn of 1888 on the streets of London women were horribly murdered by the a man who was never caught "Jack the Ripper." The Autumn of fear that gripped the greatest city on Earth at the time was one of hysteria. People were afraid of there own shadows. There was a monster with a knife on the loose. Today the people of London continue to live in fear of knife crime. It seems we learn nothing from history.
Created using Oil paint, air drying clay, fabric, feather, glass paint, wood, feather, plastic, mental foil, cotton wool, hologram card, glitter, string, cotton and aluminum.
The brick work, footpath and road are created with air drying clay, giving it a realistic feel. The window frames, doors and hackney carriage are made of wood, the horse with created with suede, leather and plastic. The glass is transparent plastic and the flames of the gas lamps have been created with metal foil. The people are created from fabric and card. The artwork has a three dimensional death and texture.

Risking Freedom
24 inches by 20 inches
As I did a history degree, I have a natural love for all things past. There was of course a time when the past was the present and we where the future. The artwork is about Freedom. The bird cage is open, the window is open and outside in a tree a bird sings. The patriot contemplates the risk of freedom for a dog and cat play in front of the open window. The maid holds a letter of resignation and contemplates giving it to her Mistress, risking unemployment. The Mistress reads about financial freedom by buying railway shares.

Watching us - Watching them!
24 inches by 17 inches (A2)
Created on canvas board using, Oil paint, metallic foil, hologram foil, glass gem stones, plastic, card, glitter and air drying clay. This is more of a three dimensional sculpture on a two dimensional surface. It has depth and texture. Sadly the brilliant sparkle of the glitter and metallic foils cannot be picked up by the camera. The original has to be view for the true effect of the sparkling, iridescent glitter to be appreciated or the hologram effect of the foil.
We see the gold fish bowl that is our Earth and a little man looking out at the mighty Cosmos, through a telescope. Human inventions explore Mars and Jupiter while minds superior to ours, from across the vastness of space and time view us from their space craft. The human probe approaching Jupiter and the sailing ship on the sea within the gold fish bowl, speak of timeless exploration. The fish that swim within the sea beneath the ship are as oblivious to us as we are to those aliens who watch us from their space craft.

Honey Dear
24 inches by 17 inches (A2)
8.5 billion people on planet Earth and we all depend on the busy bee to pollinate our food. If this beautiful and tiny insect goes extinct, so do we.
Created on canvas board, with glass paint, oil paint, glitter, hologram card, plastic and glass stones. The light reflects through the glass paint, and the hologram effect of the card causes the light to dance though the image in a way that cannot be shown in a still image. I created with image to be pretty and relaxing. It says nothing but is designed to play with the light in such a way as to demand being looked at. Sadly the brilliant sparkle of the glitter and metallic foils cannot be picked up by the camera. The original has to be view for the true effect of the sparkling, iridescent glitter to be appreciated or the hologram effect of the foil.

Happy after the rain.
Created on A3 canvas board. 16.5 inches by 11.7 inches
Using, oil paint, glass paint, metal foil, glitter and hologram card.
As a child my favorite animal was the elephant. I have found memories of my parents taking me to the Zoo to see the greatest of mother natures marvels. I am of the view there is no creation of humans that can compare with the beauty of nature. There is no joy or excitement experienced by our kind that can come even close to that experienced by the animals of Africa after the rains.
Yet at the hands of humans, the Elephant could be extinct within a generation

HM Elizabeth and Victoria - remembered.
24 inches by 17 inches (A2)
A tribute to two very great ladies, Queens Elizabeth II and her great, great, Grand Mother, Queen Victoria. In the afterlife they are having the conversation that they could never have had in this life, about the events of their Reigns.
We see to Angels trumpeting out glory to the two women and in the panels behind the respective Queen, we see the events of their long Reigns.
This is a 3D sculpture on a 2D surface. It is created using, oil paint, feathers, wood, fabric, metal foil, mirror card, glitter, glass paint. pearl paint and glass stones, on A2 canvas board. The biggest problem I have had is getting a photo that really shows it off. The image sparkles and reaches of the canvas and out into the room. It demands those passing by look at it.

Jupiter (the flying angel elephant).
Height 9 inches by length 14 inches and width 11 inches.
Jupiter is an elephant in the afterlife and a reminder that at the current rate of extermination it is the only place we well be able to see them (when we are dead).
Created using, aluminum, air drying clay, metal wire, feathers, glass jewels, glitter, elastic, oil paint, glass paint and glitter. Jupiter is a working sculpture as he also acts as a t-light holder.

Bonsi Bird
Height 27 inches by Length 14 inches by Width 12 inches.
This is my second true 3D sculpture but not my last. It is a sculpture with a function as it can act as a night-light by holding a candle, giving the impression of the gas light by night.
This work was inspired by the tree, the way it is long lived, almost eternal compared to humans. It gives an environment for so many life forms, from insects to birds and creates a wealth of fruit and food for its inhabitant and those casual passers-by. Above all it turns carbon into oxygen giving life to the planet as a whole. Yet despite its God-like qualities, the trees and their inhabitant are being destroyed by the very humans that need the to survive.
I hope those looking at the sculpture will remember the inspiration behind it. Every tree is special.
This was created in clay, metal, wood, oil paint, glass paint, leather, glitter, and glass beads.
It is not presently for sale, not because I wouldn't sell it but like my first sculpture, I have not yet decided how best to ship it. I fear it would get damaged if sent internationally. Once I have worked out the problem, I will put it up for sale.

Gas Lamp
Height 19.5 inches by Length 11.5 inches (base) and Width 6.5 inches (base)
As I did a history degree, I am fascinated by times past and often try to recreate them in my artwork. This is my first true 3D sculpture but not my last. It is a sculpture with a function as it can act as a night-light by holding a candle, giving the impression of the gas light by night.
It was in the shadows of such street lights that crimes told and untold occurred in ninetieth century England. The unspeakable horrors of villains such as Jack the Ripper. A City by night, caught in the flickering flame that gave Charles Dickens his inspiration and in turn mine. Created with Abalone Shell for the decoration of the roof of the lamp, in aluminum, glass, clay, plastic, glitter, wood and leather. It is idea for a fire side or a dinning table. The only reason it is not presently for sale is that I cannot yet workout how best to send it. In a wooden crate of course. It is however fragile and a heavy blow to the crate in transit could damage it. When I have worked out the best way forward I will then put it up for sale.

Poverty - A little change?
24 inches by 17 inches (A2)
Created, using, oil paint, glass paint, wood, fabric, metallic card, glitter, foil, plastic and artificial fur, string/cotton, feathers, and sand.
The image shows a shop doorway in the nineteenth century and another in the twenty first century. The work is inspired by a Victorian photo, image widely circulated of an old lady sitting in a doorway in London's Whitechapel area. She is slowly starving to death. It is heart breaking. The nineteenth century Vagrancy Act made sleeping on the street a criminal offense but starving on them was not. The old lady belonged to a class called, "crawlers." Crawlers were people who had given up trying, they were so depressed they were just waiting to die. In 1870 the British Empire held 79% of all the world's wealth. Within one mile of the City of London, the richest and most powerful place on Earth, there was desperate poverty equal in its misery to any far-flung place of the Empire. The Policemen in the image represents Authority looking away. There were those who tried to help by way of charity, but their tears, then as now, were rain drops in an ocean of despair. Today, over a hundred years later, with the growing cost of living crisis, I fear we will see more people living in shop doorways.

A Passion for Africa.
24 inches by 17 inches (A2)
It was sugar that took the British to the Caribbean, silk and spices that took them to India, as for Africa it was Gold, Ivory and a passion for a world so totally different from the one in Europe. Young British solders saw for the first time, almost naked women. A passion they undoubtedly wished to expression in an embrace was all to often shown in violence. The rape of Africa had begun while the young men of the British armed forces lost there innocence. Women didn't have to wear big fluffy dresses, decorated in industrial made lace. They were far more appealing without the dresses. Their overloads at home, didn't want interracial love, they wanted gold and ivory to fuel the City of London.
It is history that has inspired me to create with art work. It is on a canvas board and can be hung on a wall, but it also had texture and depth, giving it a 3D, sculptural aspect. All the pieces were cut out by hand. Like the British Empire in Africa, this was a labor of love.

The Artist and the Alcohol 24 inches by 17 inches (A2)
The artist is so obsessed with the images on the television of a painting sold under auction for vast sums of money, and dreams of the Caribbean, that he turns to the Rum in order to find the paradise in the bottle. So obsessed with success he fails to see the beauty around him.

The theme is how slavery was used for sugar production. So European's could sweeten their tea, Africans were taken from their homes and transported across the sea's to work on the sugar plantations. Many died on route.

The Victorian Victim ( a retake on Crime of Diversity 1885 - see below)
Oil and mixed media on canvas board. Using fabric, card, metal foil, and plastic.
11.7 inches by 16.5 inches (A3)
As a gay man who studied Law and History I feel passionately about the suffering of the LGBT community during the 19th Century. A time when being different was a crime punishable by, execution or imprisonment and hard labour. What disturbs me most is how quickly we have forgotten and how little compassion we have for the victims of an ignorant law.
The painting shows a half man, half woman in the gas lit privacy of a Victorian London home, a policeman comes in through the French windows to enforce the law. Out of the windows we see Parliament that made Diversity a crime, with the Act of Indecency 1885. The aim of the painting is to remind LGBT people, what or for-fathers' went though, so we could have the freedoms we do today.

The Queen Anne's Inn
24 inches by 17 inches (A2)
Created on canvas board with oil paint and glitter. It is inspired by the Queen Anne's Revenge, the pirate ship of Black Beard. A ship puts into a fishing port on the Cornish Coast, England in the 1700's. The old world charm is over looked by a silent Specter of a age to come. Tin mining and the industrial revolution.

Oil paint on canvas board. This is a small painting that was created for a exhibition in Birmingham UK. It was spontaneously created and unlike most of my works, it was driven by a deadline and the desire to use color for the purpose of creating something pretty. Again, unlike much of my work, it is not intended to say anything. It is just an expression of Love.

When I tell people that I have been visited by Grey Aliens, the sometimes smile and others frown. They have even backed-off. This was created for one very special alien who looked at me and said, "it is Me!" He then went on to say it was his birthday. Perhaps it was really his birthday or maybe it was part of a psychological experiment to see how I would react. - Go on have a laugh, I won't hear you.

Stonewall Pop-art
(24" by 17"A2 in size)
Silver mirror card is printed with the ghost of a wall, this is hot foiled in the colours of the rainbow flag. The image is built up on this. The New York Skyline as it was in 1969. We see the outline of the Stonewall Inn and a white policeman brandishing his truncheon at a black drag queen, who retaliates by throwing her handbag at him. She reaches back, forward through time, to a young white man who is kissing a black NYC policeman, while reaching erotically for his truncheon. Above is the moon connected by stars to Lady Liberty? Larger stars bare the name of some world changing gay men. Liberace, Andy Warhol, Sir Elton John, Freddie Mercury, Alan Turing and Michelangelo.
The arrow of time over head travels from 1969 to 2019 and Christopher Street, ended with a pink triangle. A red ribbon on the side of the Empire State Building at the start of the arrow of time, tells of another tragedy yet to happen.

Crime of Diversity 1885
Oil on Canvas board.
24" by 20"
As a gay man who studied Law and History I feel passionately about the suffering of the LGBT community during the 19th Century.

A heavenly gay angel looks on, hanging from the gas lamp by the rainbow flag. I hated football at school. If I hadn't fancied the teacher, there would have been no point to it. I had thought I hated football because I was gay and it was something only straight boys would like. I am much older now and realize there are a lot of gay guys who love football and straight ones who don't. Perhaps I was just a different type of boy. I created this oil painting to recall the feeling and emotions I had in my teenage years.

The first artwork I have ever created. Is is about the weakness of humanity, the optimism for the future and a unity in death that can not be found in the current world, but with each new birth or rebirth comes another chance.
We see heaven and a number of people arrive through a tunnel, guided by an angle to the gold gates. Beyond the wall we see the religions of the world united. From the burning bush/tree, ash falls and mixes in the waterfall and is ejected into the universe to create new life.
